Kate is thrilled to be coming home to Coventry Diocese and to parish ministry renewed and refreshed by a ‘gap year’ as a member of the Scargill community offering Christian hospitality in the Yorkshire Dales. Kate has been ordained for 22 years serving in parish churches in Rugby then Royston and then as vicar of Wellesbourne and Walton for 13 years, and Area Dean of Fosse. Before ordination she worked as an analytical chemist for the pharmaceutical company Glaxo. She grew up (and still has family) in Kenilworth. To relax Kate enjoys a bit of cycling, sketching, eating with friends, and visiting South Africa.
This announcement from the Diocese that was read out last Sunday
Further to the interviews that were held in March the Bishop & the Lord Chancellor have approved the appointment of Kate Mier as the next Vicar of the Arden Marches. The institution service for Kate will be held on Monday 20 August at 7.30 pm and will be led by Bishop John and Archdeacon Sue.
Many thanks to everyone for their patience as we are aware that this has been a long 13 weeks. However, with Lord Chancellor appointments we are required to obtain a clear DBS before any public announcement can be made and due to Kate having had 2 addresses in the last year her application I am afraid just got stuck in the system between 2 police forces.
We look forward to welcoming Kate back into the diocese and her continuing her ministry with us. Please keep Kate in your prayers as she prepares to move.
And we had an email from Kate
‘greetings from the Yorkshire Dales. I am thrilled to have been invited to be your next vicar, and very much look forward to getting to know you and to joining you in living and sharing the good news of all that Jesus means for us in the Arden Marches villages. I will be moving into the vicarage in July, and hope to get to know some people informally over the summer before beginning ministry proper with you in September. Do pray for me, as I will for you, over these coming weeks.’
