EMBERS - Studley Youth Group

Studley Youth Group will restart on 5th September.

Preparing for change:

Personal Profiles

It would be a great help and blessing for your next Vicar if you could please write for them a simple Profile of yourself and your family, including any ministries you have in the churches or community.  Please stick to one side of A4 per person.  Children who do not yet write much could draw a picture of themselves and what they like.  If it is not too much trouble, could you please add a photo.  It does not make any difference if you have been worshipping at our churches for a week or 95 years (yes, there is someone).  Please pass your Profile to clergy or churchwardens, who will prepare a folder.

PACKING DAY

Margaret and I need to pack all our own stuff for moving, apart from breakables - including about 50 boxes for books.  If you are free, could you possibly come and help us please on Wednesday 1 Sept between 10 am and 9 pm.  Please bring something to share for lunch.  We will provide drinks, and fish and chips for those still standing at tea time!  All ages welcome!  It will be a huge help to have friends help us with this tiring and emotional task.

TUESDAY 7 SEPT 6.30 PM STUDLEY JUNIOR SCHOOL, NEW ROAD

Farewell gathering for Richard and Margaret - all welcome. Please bring something to share for the buffet.

(They actually move out on Thursday 9th September).

FAREWELL - There are boxes at the back of the churches for donations for a farewell gift for Richard and Margaret. If you wish to donate by cheque please make it out to Studley with Mappleborough PCC. Any donations should be given by the end of August. Thank you.

MOTHERS UNION NEWS.

Thank you so much to all who helped and supported our recent Coffee Evening. We raised £243 for M.U. Overseas Fund.

Josie Perkins 01527 857257

PCC/MLT

There will be a Group Forum meeting on 13 September at Studley

Junior School, 7.30 pm. The main business will be the Parish Profile.

RECYCLING AT STUDLEY CHURCH

As there are now so many schemes for recycling printer cartridges, etc, that service has been withdrawn at Studley Church. But do keep recycling.

Collecting plates/baskets will be available at all services for the next 2 Sundays to give the opportunity to make a donation for Pakistan Flood Relief through the Disasters Emergency Committee.

(There will of course still be the usual offering taken for church funds.)

THE TRAMPS  are having their annual skittles evening on Wednesday 1st September. Contact Gail on 01564 826558 for information.

HELP NEEDED FOR LUNCH BOX

We have recently lost quite a number of helpers, mainly due to age/other commitments and could really do with at least 1 extra person who can cook simple meals, plus vegetables. Recipes are provided and the cost of the food is re-imbursed. Lunchbox is held monthly, except August, on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Parish Centre. Please speak to Linda Wright (850417) if you can help.

MONEY

We have received some additional income which increases the final figure for the Mappleborough Green Fête, after costs, to £1,656.30.

STUDLEY CHURCH FINANCES:

Studley church finances update: Our weekly giving was on target for 2010. The trouble is that income from other sources like weddings and baptisms is down this year. We have changed our estimate from the average weekly income from other sources to £405. This leaves us facing a deficit of several thousand pounds unless we can increase our giving by £45 a week. Let us all continue to give generously to our generous God of love.
