MISSION STATEMENT
Our purpose is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and soul and to love our fellow human beings as ourselves.
WE THEREFORE AIM:
1. To encourage individuals of all ages to find new life in Christ.
2. To be a community which brings together everyone who is drawn to that new life in Christ.
3. To bring new hope to the communities of Studley, Mappleborough Green, Morton Bagot and Oldberrow and to the places where we work.
AIM OF WORSHIP
To express our love for God and for each other. We will aim to provide varied acts and occasions of worship, which reflect our community and the gifts God has given us.
AIM OF ALL AGE WORSHIP
To worship together in church monthly as the widest possible community of ages and backgrounds. We will therefore strive to provide monthly All Age services which will provide clear teaching for all, in a profound and enjoyable act of worship.
AIM OF MINISTRY FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
To offer, as far as we are able with the gifts and the time God has given us, activities and teaching to all ages during the week, and through appropriate worship and teaching on Sundays.
AIM OF MINISTRY FOR ADULTS
To communicate the hope and the challenge of God in appropriate cultural forms, and to offer practical love.
AIM OF OUR LEARNING TOGETHER
To provide appropriate Christian teaching for all ages on Sundays. This will involve well-resourced groups for children during Holy Communion services, and sermons for adults which wll often follow teaching series. Services with Christian teaching for all alges will take place once amonth at Mappleborough Church, Studley Parish Church and the Community Service.
AIM OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICE
This is an informal, flexible all age Christian event in the community. The team aim for worship and teaching which are accessible and alternative.
AIM FOR SHARED MINISTRY
To encourage and affirm each other in using and developing our gifts to forward these aims.
AIM FOR CREATION
To promote care for God’s Creation through our teaching and by example.
.
In our ministry we seek to follow the example of Jesus,
who came among us not to be served but to serve.
(Ministers are all who preach or teach the Christian faith to any age, lead any group or church activity or represent the church, the Body of Christ, in the community.)
A minister will aim to have love and courtesy at the centre of all relationships.
Therefore, with the help of God, she or he will try to:
be an agent of reconciliation, not division;
(for example, encourage and only criticise as a last resort;
refrain from making negative comments about others);
be flexible, open to learn from and give way to others;
respect the different traditions and styles in the church and beyond;
be free of sexist or racist attitudes;
be honest and truthful;
follow Christian morality in all relationships, including sexual relationships;
make time for their own personal prayer.
Of course all ministers will often fall short of these ideals (1 John 1.8-9).
Ministers will be invited to renew their commitment to ministry each New Year.
